1 General Description
The EM78P156K is an 8-bit microprocessor designed and developed with low-power and high-speed
CMOS technology. The device has an on-chip 1024 ×13-bit Electrical One Time Programmable Read Only
Memory (OTP-ROM). It provides a protection bit to prevent intrusion of user’s OTP memory code. Three
Code option words are also available to meet user’s requirements.
With enhanced OTP-ROM features, the EM78P156K provides a convenient way of developing and verifying
user’s programs. Moreover, this OTP device offers the advantages of easy and effective program updates,
using development and programming tools. Users can avail of the ELAN Writer to easily program their
development code.

6.1.5 R4 (RAM Select Register)
„ Bits 7 ~ 6 are not used (read only).
„ Bits 7 ~ 6 set to “1” at all time.
„ Bits 5 ~ 0 are used to select registers (Address: 0x00 ~ 0x06, 0x0F ~ 0x3F) in the
indirect addressing mode.
„ See the Data Memory Configuration in Figure 6-2.

R5 and R6 are I/O registers.
Only the lower 4 bits of R5 are available.
The upper 4 bits of R5 are fixed to “0”.
